Your inflatable paddle board will not fit back in the bag because air is still trapped inside and the roll is too loose, not because the board grew. Open the valve fully, press the leftover air out, fold the rails in, and roll tight from the nose, and it goes back where it came from.
A new board feels like it shrank the factory bag because it did not. The factory vacuum-presses and machine-rolls each board before it ships, which packs it tighter than any first roll you do at home. That first repack always feels like a fight. It gets easier every time.
Here is the sequence that works. Deflate the board completely and leave the valve open in its deflate position so trapped air keeps escaping while you work. Lay the board flat and fold both side rails in toward the center so you are rolling a narrower strip. Start the roll at the nose, the end away from the valve, and roll slowly and firmly, kneeling on the roll or leaning your weight in to squeeze out the last air as you go. Push the roll toward the open valve so the escaping air has somewhere to leave. Strap it, then place it in the bag.
A roomy, well-shaped bag makes this far less of a wrestling match, which is the point of a purpose-built board bag.
