The NIXY Hybrid Leash is a 10-foot paddle board leash with a mixed coil and straight design. It keeps your board attached to your ankle so it doesn't drift away if you fall off, which is essential for safety in currents, surf, or crowded paddle spots.

Three reasons: safety, in case you fall and the wind or current carries the board away. Recovery, since you don't have to swim long distances after a stumble. And consideration, since loose boards can collide with other paddlers or beachgoers in crowded spots. Most lakes and surf areas require leashes.

The Hybrid Leash combines a coil section (compact, doesn't drag in the water) with a straight section (lets the board fall further from you in a wipeout). The mix gives you the best of both: less drag on calm days, more clearance in surf or rough conditions.

Polyurethane cord, which is strong, stretchable, and resistant to UV damage and saltwater. Polyurethane is the industry standard for paddle board leashes because it absorbs the shock of a fall without snapping.

One end clips to your ankle with a velcro cuff. The other end clips to the leash plug on the tail of your paddle board (a small D-ring usually near the back of the deck). Most NIXY boards include the leash plug as standard.

Always when paddling open water, surf, or rivers. Skip the leash only in very specific cases: certain whitewater rapids where entanglement is more dangerous than separation. For all standard paddleboarding (lakes, bays, coastal), wear the leash every time.
