If you want extra capacity for gear, a dog, or a second person, the wider Monterey G5 (34 inches wide, 11'6" long, 400 lb capacity) is the more forgiving touring choice. Beginners should start on the Newport G5 (33 inches wide) before stepping up to this narrower shape.

Great board, would’ve preferred some bungee cords on the rear as well! Im going from a blackfin xl 35” wide to the NIXY at 30” wide so finding the balance point was a struggle on the first paddle! But I’m certain I’ll get it, but its fast and tracks straight, just wish it had the extra bungee cords, which I’m adding!!!

So fast!

My first paddle board! I can balance well and so I wasn't concerned about that aspect of a narrower board, but I really wanted the speed and I am not disappointed. I can keep up with my kayaking friends but can easily get on and off to swim if I wish, lay out in the sun, and have the best of both worlds. I'm thinking about getting the kayak seat and double paddle so I can sit more on longer paddles. I'm glad I got the electric pump.

The advantages of a fast inflatable SUP!!

I had owned a very light inflatable SUP for over 6 years which was fast and pretty responsive on both bay and ocean water, but after several repairs and about 13 patches I heard about the NIXY Manhattan boards and decided it was time for an upgrade. While a pound or two heavier than my AirSup board, the built in fin box and carbon fiber stringers made it much more responsive and fun. I spend most of my time on this board even though I own a very narrow and fast carbon race board for the following reasons, 1) despite being only 22-23 lbs., an inflatable board has more drag, which means the paddling is more of a workout, 2) with an inflatable your feet stay much dryer thus in cold water it’s ideal, 3) if you fall you hit rubber so are less likely to get hurt and 5) it’s much less fraglie and easier to transport or store. I have traveled all over the World with my inflatable and three piece paddle so the NIXY board it made for both travel adventures and race training. Great customer support from the Company as well!

Actually I haven’t been able to use it yet. It arrives without the fin but Colleen was quick to answer my email and get one in the mail today. I can’t wait for it to arrive and give it a try.
I’ve love my Newport board but wanted something faster (I love speed) so I hope I can stay on the new board and cruise! I haven’t had one slip into the lake yet! Let’s hope I keep it that way.
