Terry cloth is thick, slow to dry, and traps sand in its pile. Turkish cotton uses long-staple fibers and a flat weave. The result dries faster, shakes free of sand, folds compact, and softens with each wash. Better for beach, pool, and travel than a terry bath towel.

Wash in warm water on gentle cycle. Cool dryer or air dry. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and dryer sheets, since they coat the fibers and reduce absorbency. Each wash softens the cotton further.
