The Malibu G5 is NIXY's race and performance board, 14' long and 28" wide with a streamlined profile built for speed, glide, and tracking. It's designed for racers, fitness paddlers training for speed, distance paddling, and experienced paddlers who want maximum efficiency per stroke. It's not built for beginners.

No. The Malibu is the most technical board in our lineup. The 28" beam is narrower than our all-around boards, making it faster but less forgiving for new paddlers. Beginners should start with the Newport (33") or Venice (34") to build paddle technique, then upgrade to the Malibu once you're comfortable balancing.

The Malibu's 14' length, 28" beam, and reinforced carbon fiber rails and stringers minimize drag. Each stroke covers more distance than on an all-around shape. Real speed depends on paddler fitness, conditions, and technique, but the Malibu is engineered to outpace any other NIXY board.

The Malibu G5 supports up to 330 lbs (150 kg) total. The race-shape hull is optimized for performance, not gear hauling, so the practical sweet spot is a paddler with minimal gear. For heavy loads, tandem paddling, or touring, the Monterey G5 (400 lb capacity) is a better choice.
